Please join us in the Drawing Room on First Friday, September 6th from 5 - 8pm for the public opening of Story In Color a solo exhibition of new works by Cynthia Bjorn.
The exhibition Story In Color features work by Cynthia Bjorn a contemporary painter who uses incredibly fine brushes to create modern, intensely layered paintings.
Bjorn has a fascination with mark making. Using the painting’s surface as a metaphor for conversation, she layers the paint until a statement that captures her intention and intuitive voice has been created. The result is a rich surface and dimensional composition that pushes and pulls space with each layer of brush strokes. Bjorn’s process is highly meditative as she slowly builds each layer by hand and then slowly and precisely applies an even coat of resin. The process of applying the resin freezes her meditation in process imbuing each piece with its own personality and emotional energy.
The Drawing Room is located at 1903 Wyandotte Street.
The duration of the exhibit is open to the public from 10am-6pm Tuesday through Friday and Noon-5pm on Saturday’s.
